Kentucky Werewolves

steven

Well, we found a new young beat up werewolf kid. We took him to the old pack’s house for a couple days and then back to our house. He got wrecked by a group trying to turn him, probably that ivory pack out near louisville. Anywho, he’s joining our pack and it’s cool to sense him as i move through the days. i have worried more for him since i couldn’t sense his whereabouts and emotions and such. i’m glad to gain an awareness of him so i can quit worrying so much about those butt heads coming back for him. if they come for him now, i’ll know it… and now a song

steven, diggs little friend steven, our new werewolf kin steven, isn’t at his end steven is the man.

So what does being brilliant and beautiful get me…yeah it gets me made into bait.

This week has definitely been one of the more interesting weeks. Now that the police have cleared off we were able to check the barns and the pond for any sign of the Ivory woman. All we smelt was burnt hair. But we were able to track her almost all the way to Louisville. Janet has proved less than helpful in dealing with this threat. Unless we are ready to take down the whole Ivory Claw Tribe we are on our own. Derrek is going to keep investigating stuff up in Louisville while the rest of us get on with our lives.

Janie is teaching a couple of us how to shoot. I think she’s afraid that in a fight we might hit her. But I’m not complaining I’d rather have her on my side during a fight.

Not sure what’s up with Diggs, he seems moody lately and he’s taken to sneaking out at night. Whatever, he’s a teenage boy-wolf. He’ll grow out of it…I hope.

It was the weekend that was really…interesting. An increasing string of attacks on women at night got us on the prowl. A little background research by Tom lead us to believe we were dealing with a vampire. Whatever it was I wanted it out of our territory. We found out after the fact that we were dealing with Creepy Jack. Either way I was the only logical choice to lure him out of the shadows. Once I got rid of the cops it worked like a charm. He took the bait and with a little psychological manipulation I was able to manage him until the rest of the pack came in. Once we realized he had no useful information for us we dealt with him. I’m still trying to get the stink of his goo out of my nose. Hopefully things will settle down around here soon.

Hilarity Ensues!

So Derreck finally awakens from his nap and decides to join the party on a little romp out into the big city of E-town. Our adventure encompasses a damsel in distress and a laughing jackel as well as a “pure blood” that wants to kill us. The long and short of it, we got to bite and claw things and detach things from the body of before mentioned jackel and so all in all a good night :)

S*** That Happened
by Janie

Right, so I guess this falls to me, cuz the rest of the a-holes don’t wanna do this. So here the fuck we go.

We gots us a totem, that big hawk Feathers (Aria, cuz she was gud w/the birdy) was singin to. I kinda like it some. It gives us an extry Brawl point and the ability to change only parts of us at a time (Partial Change, Brains told me it was calleded that…on p. 128 of the book). I likes that cuz I can shoot my guns and be in badass wolf form same time…Feathers don’t wanna hunt fuzzies to give it, so I told’er I’d git’em for’er. We each hafta kill one each week, but I’m gud at it, so’s I don’t mind it, so to speak. We also cain’t litter or use water-pollutin’ chemicals. Guess that means I’ve gotta start keeping a spit can with me. Oh well.

Blondie, ShortStack and Feathers stayed in the shadder place fer a while, lookin around. Feathers talked to the hawk some more. (She’s tellin me it’s named “Hawk Who Hunts At Night,” sounds like bullshit to me, but fuck it, I’ve already writ it down.) She asked it if it would take her to the ATM Brains and me found, but it said it was too dangerous for the two of them. Maybe it’d’a gone if I’d’a been there. Oh well.

Blondie took her a looky around and saw our bench locus-agigger. She says she seed the tree keepin the other spirits off’n our bench…damn straight! She said the bench looked all bright and shiny…like a fresh washed truck! I guess ShortStack wandered off somewhere and took him a shadder dump, cuz I never did find out what he was doin that whole time.

Brains and me went back to the house, where I started teachin him how to fight. He ain’t half bad for a pale wussy boy. He might turn out ok after all. He’s got a little fire in ‘im, if he weren’t another wolf, I might try to get ‘im likkered up and get ‘im in the sack sometime. He’s not my type, but pickins is slim round these parts.

Feathers, ShortStack and Blondie came back and smelled a female werewolf scent outside the house…I’ll write more later about the stuff I set up ‘round the outside of the house. Anyways, she didn’t git inside and we spent an hour trackin ‘er. Lost ‘er scent at the Dixie Highway. I hates all these damn roads. Too damn many people.

So ShortStack is workin as a junior football coach at the college…he might have a high school degree, but I’m the one what’s got him that fake i.d. He’s an ok kid, though. A little cocky, needs to be brung down some, but I’ve a feelin life’ll take care of that.

Blondie is settin up her high-falutin office at the college…she thinks she’s the shit that she can fight as gud as me just cuz she’s got more brains. She gets a few gud hits in sometimes, but she ain’t close to me or Derrek. She needs to learn to stick to what she’s guddest at…thinkin.

Brains is workin at the library, so he’s happy. Don’t take no shine to it myself, but someone’s gotta do it.

Feathers pitched a book to the university about totems. Sounds interestin but I wouldn’t understand it, prolly. I can read (got that much from my Ma when the old man wasn’t knockin us around), but I gots no use for that stuff. Maybe if I asked Feathers about it, she could explain some of the basic stuff to me. We’ll see.

As for me, I’ve been workin at Wal-Mart and workin on the defenses on the house. I digged me some holes and put sharpened sticks at the bottom, but Feathers said no. So I filled them back in. At least the diggin and fillin was fun. I taped the windows (so they don’t shatter when hit) and put up some bars, too. Gots us a reinforced door, too. We bought us a security system, but I don’t rely just on techy stuff…too much shit like that breaks. I put some cameras out in the trees, got’em feeding onto monitors in my room. Brains helped me with that some. Gonna get some trip-wires and a few dogs. Feathers said she’d go with me to pick some out, since she’s real gud with animals.

Anyways, Feathers, ShortStack and Blondie came back from the college one day and found a human blood trail round the house. I changed to badass wolf, Brains gotted himself a pain spirit and I started tracking the scent. ShortStack walked next to me so’s he could act like I was his dog…he wishes! Oh, another reason I like Feathers…she sewed my spare holster to her mandolin strap so’s I can have it when I need it to fight. I found the human, who shot Brains. That just pissed us off, so we kilt it. ‘Fore he died, he tried to talk to a bag around his neck. When it didn’t talk back (and people say I’m the dumbass) he said somethin’ about an “Ivory Bitch.” Blondie noticed a Ursaul female watching us. When she talked to the female, the female said she was watching Blondie (called her “young one,” like Blondie is the runty bitch of the pack, HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!) and runned off.

After the fight, ShortStack remembered about the Ivory Claws…the pure tribe that hunts wolves like us. “Ivory Bitch” remembered him of it. Me, Brains and ShortStack tracked her out of our territory. Gots to remember to keep an eye on that pond. It gots lots of her scent on it.

We all goes back home and Brains decides to see about gettin us a spirit to watch our house and maybe the pond, too. S’bout it.

Celeste's Bio

Celeste Hadassah, make that Dr. Celeste Hadassah, is a professor of philosophy. At 33 years old she is one of the youngest in her field. Such a handicap has made it difficult for her to gain a tenured position at any of the respectable universities near her home in Boston. The most recent affront to her dignity came in the spring, there was an opening in the department. Both Celeste and another Fellow were fully qualified for the tenured position, Celeste more so (at least in her understanding of the situation). When she was passed over for the promotion the reasoning the Dean of the Philosophy department gave was that she was ‘too young and brash, once you mature and settle down you’ll have a better shot at a tenured position’. Unfortunately positions like that don’t just open up every day. Her career depended upon getting her works published and working the underground social connections until her name was widely known enough that universities would come begging for her to teach in their school. And to do that she needed a tenured position, even if it was at a lessor school it was better than teaching intro classes to a room full of bored 19 year-olds, most of whom didn’t want to be there any way.

Celeste’s study of philosophy had lead her to more than just the standard Western pantheon of Plato, Augustine, Aquinas, Plantinga, etc. She was more willing than her colleagues to consider Eastern philosophy. In her studies she learned that the East brought the mind and body into greater interaction with each other, instead of the dualism that pervaded Western minds. Such a discovery had encouraged her to take up martial arts (Kung-fu) as well as fencing (and other types of sword play) as hobbies during free time. These athletic pursuits kept her lithe and strong, a complete contrast to the pale, wisps that usually made up the philosophy faculty.

We find Celeste, as a warrior of both mind and body, looking to move up through the world of academics.

The Pack: Origins

“McDonald’s” he said, “out of all the f*cking places to meet, they chose McDonald’s. It’s good to see they have class!” Derrek mutters to himself as he arrives thirty minutes early for the meeting. Being a loner Derrek arrives early to get the lay of the land. From the smell of things he is the only one here. Good, that is the way he likes it. He takes up in the back of the restaurant and waits for the rest to arrive. p. Next to arrive is a tall slender cock-sure pup. Derrek can smell him immediately. He doesn’t even look old enough to shave and yet he holds himself as if he is king of the world.

“How little they really know at that age,” Derrek said to himself as the young one walked to to the counter order. He must have only recently gone through the change. You can always tell because the hunger never seems to be satisfied. The kid orders a mound of food and gains more than a couple of looks from the humans in the restaurant. I can see this one might need some coaching.

Right on time in the appropriately scheduled interval arrives the next one. Her swagger and “I don’t give a shit” attitude are noticed far before her inner beast. “I don’t know what I am going to like less about this one, her body odor or the smell of her dip spit?” Derrek mentally noted. She starts taking a lay of the land and noticing the pup immediately and her eyes widen with thought of corrupting another adolescent. Fatigues with a skoal ring and a plain black shirt make up her ensemble. “I figured she would be sporting at least an AC/DC shirt!” Derrek mused.

Thirdly, in walks a ghost of a figure. Pale complected with a hint of age and an strange presence about him. “This one has been around.” thought Derrek with a smile. His Gothic features and pale complexion are his first tell tell sign. This guy spends more time huddled around books and a computer than he does out in the wild. Ghost boy orders his food uneventfully and takes up shop near a window. “Odd choice, I would have pegged him to shy away from light almost. Derrek continued with his thoughts.

The smell in the air was growing. At this point no one could ignore the fact that we were congregating, why we were not completely sure. We could sense and smell each other just as much as the grease that piled up from the meat in the back. Our scent filled our nostrils and we all became increasingly aware that things were about to change.

The disappearance of the previous pack in this area has been a mystery for many months now. Word has been coming down the channels about a lot of weird activity in the region. This has got Janet Stargazer, leader of the large pack in Louisville running quite cautious these days. Cautious, not scared. Scared isn’t exactly Janet’s thing. She is just a bit more in tuned with things from the shadow then most. So when she is being cautious it makes me keep my damn eyes open, even when I am sleeping.

Just then, in walks the most straight laced, tweed skirt wearing, Berkley scholar wannabe. She has her blouse pressed and her hair neatly groomed with a wide eyed look of uncertainty on her face. She scans the crowd and makes eye contact with the others. She proceeds to get her food and approaches ghost boy. “No shock there, meek and timid gravitates towards quiet and lonely.” Derrek thought. No sooner had she sat down to eat with ghost boy than the last of the party arrived.

“If it isn’t Woodstock all over again. I lied, this one is the Berkley scholar.” Derrek laughed to himself.

This mandolin wearing thirty-something came in from the parking lot. Hair blown from the ride on her bike with her mandolin strapped across her back. She is wearing a blue jean jacket. “And I have expected it to be bedazzled!” Derrek laughed again to himself. She approached very cautiously, observing, making sure to linger over each one as she made her way to a table. Everything about this one screamed watcher.

“Well here we are now and no sign of Janet just yet.” Derrek thought.

No sooner had the thoughts left his head than a tall slender woman of good stock entered. She wore a business suit and eyed each one in turn and then indicated for them to follow her out in the parking lot. The Pack acknowledged by stopping everything they were doing and followed her. One by one they trickled out into the parking lot to see what fate lies before them.

Derrek, unnoticed by all the others proceeded to sneak out the back through the kitchen. He arrives and is greeted by Janet with a nod of her head.

“I am glad that you all decided to make it. You have been given the charge of taking up residence here in Elizabethtown. This is not a charge to be taken lightly. The previous pack has disappeared and we do not know why.” She said. “This territory must remain guarded, it is too vital given over to whatever may take it. Do you accept this charge before you?” She asked as she was met with looks of unease and questions.

“Do we have any word on what happen to the last pack Janet?” Derrek asked, finally speaking for first time.

“No we do not. I have my own pack looking into it but we are spread thin as it is. With the current state of things in the Shadow we are being forced on the defense to much it is hard to do an appropriate investigation. This will be part of your task here as you establish your new territory.” She finished.

“Arrangements have been made for you to purchase a home. Find a location and get yourselves integrated. We will be able to help you a little but once I leave this place you will have to do the work yourself.” she said. “Malcom will provide you with the documents that you need to get started. We have a place at the Gold Vault Inn for you to stay until everything is finalized for the house!”

The Gold Vault Inn was more of your throw back dinge motel that catered to the desperate and lonely if you catch my drift. Luckily we didn’t have to hang for too terribly long. Derreck and Miss prim and proper made their way to getting things rolling on the official side of things…you know looking respectable and such. Luck interceded again because things went smoothly as the pack started making preparations to scout out their territory.

With a house found and a good location at that, and with everyone having a good direction to head for jobs the pack made to set out on the prowl looking to make themselves known in the area. Word arose of a place in the park near our house. Crazy things were happening there. Strange disappearances at night.
